Visiting New York City during the holiday season is always a treat and this year was no exception. Though we only spent a few hours in Manhattan, we went to two of my favorite stores for Christmas window displays: Macy’s and Anthropologie. Keep reading to take a mini tour of these 2022 NYC holiday windows!
Macy’s Holiday Windows
The Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square was our first stop. We made a quick trip inside to see some of the Enchanted Wonderland decorations on the first floor. I loved this funky owl and the fluffy tailed squirrel.

The chandeliers featured small, enchanting city scenes of New York (though they were a bit hard to see from the ground, especially with all the crowds.

The main event was, of course, outside. There were six holiday windows featuring all sorts of furry friends. Our two favorite were the first (Gingerbread!) and second (Polar Bears!) windows.
The “gingerbread” was so colorful and so detailed! I wish I could’ve admired it for longer but the NYC December weekend crowd would not allow it lol.

When I saw this cozy and colorful polar bear window, my heart went full pitter patter. I loveeee this! All the colors! All the fun details! All the yarn! Clearly my yarn stash isn’t big enough and I’ll have to be amassing more in 2023 🥰.

It’s only fair to include a few fun moments from the other Macy’s windows…
This dapper fox was pretty hilarious

Always love a typewriter moment–and snail mail forever

And I love disco balls and cute little mice (not real, live mice tho).

Anthropologie Holiday Windows
Far from the whimsical windows at Macy’s (figuratively, literally only about 16 blocks), were the Anthropologie holiday windows at the Rockefeller Center store. While the giant Christmas tree draws the bulk of the attention at Rockefeller Plaza, I favor the #anthrowindows. I’m not sure how, but the Anthropologie window designers made a dinner party with penguins look sophisticated. Maybe it’s all the champagne? Maybe it’s the genius use of iridescent elements? Maybe it’s all the intricate details? I’m not sure but the effect was stunning and enchanting.

The beaded lemon slices on the lobster platter were perfection

Here’s another window depicting racing/flying penguins with bottles of champagne. I love how the pink tulle skirt echoes the pink lights and the pink ribbons throughout the composition.

This next window was my least favorite but I still love the Arctic blue blended background and the fabulous snowy garland with those amazing pink lights.

This was first window we saw and the chandelier took my breath away. It’s simple but fun, whimsical, but also sophisticated. Swoon.

I hope you enjoyed this mini tour of a few of the 2022 NYC holiday windows and that you found some inspiration for your own holiday decor!
